“Secret powers” by @raydred -
Spiders… are creepy. But, they can be funny. Now I know what you’re thinking. “Why do these spiders only have 6 legs?”. Well, it’s not because i couldn’t get the legs to look right. It’s because they lost 2 of their legs in a horrible car accident. And I know what you’re thinking NOW…. “Spiders Driving cars? Yea.. right.”
Yep. Totally true.
“it’s gettin’ hot in here!” by @raydred -
So I’m on a roll!
This sketch came from one of my favorite jokes I heard a long time ago. It goes something like this:
“There’s two muffins in an oven. One muffin says ‘it’s hot in here!’. The other muffin turns and says ‘Holy shit! a talking muffin!’”
I like the absurdity of this joke.
So I illustrated it.
Hope you like it!
@Raydred: as society crumbles..
This is a sketch I’ve been working on here and there over a few weeks. It’s small, but I didn’t want to overdo it. It’s sketched with a sharpie market, and they can be unforgiven.
This “unforgiving” state allowed me to take my time, steady my hand and think of the overall sketch. These are things I need to do ALL the time.
In a vague attempt to somewhat do a theme based sketch I decided to draw up a quick little sketch of one of my comic characters from www.robotfriday.com - The little robot alarm clock, Robot Friday, is a mechanization that has gone wrong in just a few little ways. Not enough to kill anyone, but definitely enough to be annoying.
Raydred: poor Om-nom. All he wanted was candy and he got crushed. This is an illustration sketch I did from an iPhone game called “cut the rope”. This piece is about the potential of a tragic ending that an insatiable appetite can bring. Or it’s a slightly humorous depiction of a small bug being crushed.
bradsamuelson: little sketch sticking with the theme from last week - technology that has failed us… well, him at least
Raydred: since the theme is shot, I’d thought I’d post the beginnings of a drawing I’m planning.
This is an old man. He stands on the corner and tells at cars. “back in my day, we didn’t have any of those zipity-doos! We did have zambity-kooks though… Oh how I miss those. “
I can only aspire to become like him.
I know this doesn’t go with the theme of the week, but I knocked this one out real quick today at work and felt the need to post it. I started off on this one Friday and I meant to finish it over the weekend but never got around to it. It began stiff but I just kind of let my hand go with the body area and just let it sketch out rough ideas of hands and stuff. I like the fluidity of it when I can let myself go, but I have to just force my mind to shut off and let my hands do it, which is harder than it sounds.

Ahoy there! This week’s sketch them is “technology that has failed us”. I’ll leave that open to interpretation.
It could be tech that is real, imagined or other.
Submit you sketches, and most of all have fun!

Raydred’s random sketch:Emo-stien.
Today I thought I’d share a random sketch I made recently. This was sketched and colored digitally, in illustrator. I’ve started learning illustrator recently (I’ve been a photoshop guy for years), and I’m pleased with my results so far. I hope you enjoy this sketch! Let me know what you think.

Hello artists!
This week has been an odd week for myself. With the holiday and traveling, I haven’t formally announced this week’s theme. Brad Samuelson (oddnik.com, as the grass grows) suggested “Usagi Yojimbo” as the first theme. I thought this was a great idea! For those who are not familiar with “Usagi Yojimbo”, goto wikipedia or google images and search for ”Usagi Yojimbo”.
Submit your sketches! We’d like to see what you have to offer.
